Obituary

David Brian Grodhaus went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2023, peacefully at his home in Toronto, OH.

David, more affectionately called Dave by his loved ones, was born July 20, 1959, in East Liverpool, OH.

At the young age of 17 years old Dave dedicated his early adulthood to our country by enlisting and serving in the US Army earning his place as an Army Ranger. He fought in the invasion of Grenada, was a clinical specialist for almost 4 years, and received expert status in rifles and grenades. He then, after enlistment, made his living working as a heavy equipment operator and ultimately retired from Heritage Thermal Services in 2021.

Dave was cherished by his family and friends for his jovial but stubborn nature that was unique to the man God created in him. He built a family that reaches across the country and was a proud husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. He loved to fish and golf, and in more recent years became an expert in antiques.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce (Thomas) Grodhaus. He is survived by his loving wife of the last 15 years Patricia (Socha) Grodhaus whom he married on his birthday on July 20th, 2008. He is also survived by his children Jeremy Grodhaus of Oklahoma, Chelsea Grodhaus Capps of Oklahoma, Tyler Grodhaus of Salem, OH, Taryn Grodhaus Miller and her husband Jason Miller of Salem, OH, and Aubrie Grodhaus Valesko of Carrolton, OH, as well as his step children, Paul and Sarah Barnette of Toronto, OH, Elizabeth and Adam Howell of Follansbee, WV, and Stephanie and Aaron Ellenberger of Steubenville, OH; his sister, Brenada and Dave Haught of Toronto, and their children, Kristopher and Christina Haught, Rahcel and Justin Shay, and David and Angela Haught; "Grandpa Dave" will be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren who loved spending time with him.
