David D. Harkins, 76, of Rayland, Ohio passed away Saturday Nov. 1, 2008 in the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. Dave was born Sept. 21, 1932 in Bradley, Ohio, son of the late Pearl Hugh and Mildred Riley Harkins. Dave was retired from Consol Coal Co., Central Shop in Georgetown as a Mechanic. He attended the 1st. Emmanuel Baptist Church in St. Clairsville, is a member of the Smithfield Masonic Lodge # 182 F&AM., and is a member of the United Mine Workers of America. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by; his Great-Grand son Nathaniel David Morris, his Grandson, David Morris, three sisters, Virginia Thomaszewski, Eileen Young, Pearlie Fellows, and two Brothers, Earl and Bob Harkins. Surviving are; his wife Flora (Tweedy) Harkins of home, three Daughters, Rebecca (Brad) Kovarik of Smithfield, Charlotte (Bill) Morris of Mingo Jct., and Rhonda (Dino) Phillippi of Rayland. His Son, Dwain (Paula) Harkins of Rayland. Seven Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren. Three Sisters, Thelma Neely and Shirley Fabry both of Smithfield and Mildred (Vincent) Morelli of Wintersville. Two Brothers, Fred (Treasa) Harkins of El Paso, Texas and Howard (Louise) Harkins of Jewett.Friends and family may call on Monday Nov. 3, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield; where Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Wilford Simeral will officiate the service and burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
