Obituary

Dixon Myers Hepburn, 85, of Toronto, Ohio passed away suddenly Sunday Jan. 3, 2010 at his home. Dick was born Jan. 2, 1925 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Emlyn G. and Sarah Ethel Montgomery Hepburn. Dick was the assistant manager for the Toronto A&P Grocery Store for 34 yrs. and was the owner-operator of the IGA Grocery Store in Midland, Pa. for 10 years until his retirement. Dick has been a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Toronto since 1950, Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F&AM for 58 years, Toronto O.E.S. # 215, formerly served on the Toronto City School Board, lifetime member of the Toronto Boosters Club, formerly served as Pres. Of the Dyer Country Club, former member of the Midland, Pa. Chamber of Commerce, where in 1985 he was named "Man of The Year," member of the Toronto American Legion Post #86, Toronto Chapter #221 Royal Arch Masons, Steubenville Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine Columbus, Ohio, Pilgrim Commandry #55 Knights of Templar East Liverpool, Ohio Keramas Council #95 Royal and Select Masons of E.Liverpool. He served his country during W.W. II in the U.S. Marines, where he received a Purple Heart and numerous other citations. In addition to his parents Dick was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, John and Charles; three sisters, Amy Halliday, Sally Bresock and Elizabeth Haught; infant brother Garfield; infant sisters, Carolyn and Isabelle. Surviving are his wife Wilma (Barritt) Hepburn, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1946; his son James of Apache Junction, AZ.; his daughter Judith (William "BC") Davis of Steubenville; two grandchildren Kathleen and Richard and one great-grandchild Justin; his sister Eloise Sheilds of Garretsville, Ohio Friends and family may call on Wednesday Jan. 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00 am. up til time of Dick's Service at 11:00 am with the Rev. William Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates. Masonic Services will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 pm.Military Honors will take place at the Funeral Home following his Service before going to the Cemetery by the Toronto American Legion Post # 86.
