Donald J. Kaniecki, 62, of Empire, Ohio, passed away Thursday Feb. 3, 2011 in Trinity Medical Center West. Don was born Oct. 8, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late Edmond and Jeannette Kopicki Kaniecki. He was an employee of Mittal Steel Weirton Division Strip mill production. He was catholic by faith, a member of the Toronto Eagles and a past member of the Toronto V.F.W. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Sargent in the 9th. Infantry Platoon.Surviving are his wife Ruth (Gibson) Kanieki of the home, three daughters, Christie (Chuck) Jackson and Jeannette Kaniecki both of Toronto and Mary Lynn ( Patrick) Owens of Columbus, Ohio. Three grandchildren, Kelsey (Christopher) Reed and Devin Jackson both of Toronto and Zoe Owens of Columbus. One Great-grandson, Christopher Reed Jr. of Toronto. His brother Robert (Dottie) Kaniecki of Toronto and two sisters, Mary Ann (Mark) Graham of Columbus and Cindy (Kenneth) Wright of Hundred, W.Va.Friends and family may call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, Ohio. There will no service and burial will be at the convenience of his family.
