Donald Lee Schaefer, 86, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Thursday November 28, 2019 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville.

Donald was born December 18, 1932 in Mingo Junction, OH, son of the late Frederick Gus and Gail Francis (Miller) Schaefer.

He was a retired millwright in the Tin Mill at the former Weirton Steel Corp. Donald served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Fred and sister, Carol.

Surviving is his wife, Mildred D. J. (McElwain) Schaefer, whom he married January 15, 1966; his three daughters, Elizabeth (Derek) Morris of DeGraff, OH, Nancy Jane (Joseph) Durbin of Springfield, OH and Kristen (Roger) Fisher of Steubenville; seven grandchildren, Johnathan Morris, Rebecca Parthemore, Maria Morris, Miranda (Matthew) Piatt, LeAnna (Lee) Bricker, Alyssa (Jordon) Spence, Nicholas Fisher and one great-granddaughter Millie Parthemore.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 9 from 4 6 pm followed by a funeral service at 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Pastor Jay Louks will officiate and burial take place in Island Creek Cemetery at a later date.
