Donald L. Smith, Sr., 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Hospice of Dayton Center in Dayton, OH.

Don was born May 31, 1938 in Piney Fork, OH, son of the late Paul and Hazel (Parrish) Smith.

He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked in the Electrical and Maintenance Depts. Don was a member of the Steelworkers Union and he served in the Army Reserves.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Shevelow) Smith who passed in 1994, his sister Carol Elder and his best friend and uncle, George Bright.

Don leaves behind his three children, sons Donald L. (Joann) Smith, Jr. of Delaware, OH and David M. Smith of Pickerington, OH; his daughter, Cindy (Kurt) Simala of Dayton, OH; his loving friend, Marilyn Woods of Martins Ferry, OH; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 28 from 11am til the time of his funeral service at 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Rev. Eric Frey will officiate and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
