Donald M. "Whip" Whipkey, 79, of Hopedale, OH, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, with his wife of 59 years, Mary Sue (Brown), daughter, Andrea Herrod, and son-in-law, Dr. Christian King by his side.

Don was born July 28, 1944, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Kester M. and Marian P. (Ingler) Whipkey.

Don was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked as an Electro-Plate Operator. He was a member of the Boys Scouts of America for many years, achieving Eagle Scout.

Don was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman, a 4-H Club Advisor, and he enjoyed flying the "Mooney" he had restored. He was a member of the Unionport Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole (Whipkey) King.

Don leaves behind his wife, Mary Sue (Brown) Whipkey; daughter, Andrea (Chad) Herrod of Lago Vista, TX; son-in-law, Dr. Christian King of Hudson, MI; two grandchildren, Braden and Kailee Keister.

Per Dons wishes, there will be no visitation and his burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the Spring or Summer. His arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home. www.jefosterfh.com
