Donna Marie Costello (Meszaros), age 83, of Rayland, OH, was called home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2026.
Born on February 17, 1943, in Plum Run, OH, Donna was the daughter of Markus and Erma Meszaros (Reinagle). She was preceded in death by her loving parents, and brothers Albert (Bronk), Rudolph (Rudy), Mark, and sisters Velma (Waldman) and Constance (Connie) (Erb).
She is survived by her husband, Eugene (Gene) Costello, whom she married on January 18th, 1964; they were married for 62 years. She has two children, Eugene M. Costello and Brian (Angel) Costello, both of Rayland, OH. She had six grandchildren, Lauren, Kalen, Alex, Sarayah, Ariella, and Liam, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Donna was a graduate of Smithfield High School class of 1961. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. Her family was her greatest joy. She was known for her love of cooking and collecting recipes, and reminiscing on memories of her family through writing, especially her Hungarian heritage. Donna’s greatest treasure that she was most proud of was the collection of memoirs and recipes that she composed for her family titled “Remember When.” Her wish was that the memories and traditions passed down by her parents and grandparents would continue to be preserved for generations to come.
One of her favorite past times was challenging her family members to her favorite games of Yahtzee, Phase 10, and Rummy. Donna had a deep love for nature and animals (especially monkeys), and no critter or bird went without being fed by her every day. Her favorites to watch were crows and cardinals.
She was known for her deep love for her grandchildren and her desire to be surrounded by family whenever possible, regardless of the occasion. Whether gathered for holidays, birthdays, celebrations, or simple everyday moments, Donna treasured time spent with those she loved most.
She was an active member of Mercy Baptist Church, serving as pianist and leader for Ladies Ministry for over 25 years.
