IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Jean
Oxier
June 28, 1936 – June 29, 2018
Dorothy J. Oxier, 82, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 in the Calcutta Health Care Center in Calcutta, OH.
Dorothy was born June 28, 1936 in Toronto, daughter of the late Amster and Mary (Fisher) Reed.
She married the love of her life, Wilber Soapy Oxier April 10, 1953 and they spent 57 years together before his passing on August 17, 2010.
She loved to cook and bake for her family. She always wanted to share of cup of coffee when anyone stopped by. She also enjoyed flowers and birds.
Dorothy loved to move furniture. This became a family joke as the sons-in-law never could get over the fact that you never knew where you would sit at the next visit to mom and dads.
Dorothy loved Jehovah and even before she was married she informed Soapy that she was going to become a Jehovahs Witness and he was welcome to join her, which he did.
She nearly died in the early 1960s taking her stand refusing blood transfusion. Her example in trusting Jehovah was kept close in mind with a small framed needlework that she and her husband displayed with the words Why worry when you can pray. Her favorite music was the kingdom songs and enjoyed them daily.
In addition to her parents and her husband Wilber, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and James Reed.
Dorothy leaves behind her four daughters, Margie (Richard) Bloom of Yorkville, OH, Connie Oxier of Toronto, Sandra (Larry) Schroeder of East Liverpool, OH and Jackie (John) Plott; her sister, Janie (Larry) Lynch of Toronto and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Reed; four grandsons, Timothy Haight, Michael Bloom, Stephen Haight and Bryce Schroeder; four granddaughters, Michelle (Allen) Henson, Wendy (Jason) Gourney, Jennifer (Shawn) Anderson and Mary Plott; her eleven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 15, 2018 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses 16516 Annesley Rd. East Liverpool, OH 43920.
Arrangements for Dorothy are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
