Obituary

Doyle Edwin Cline Sr. (Bunky), 86, passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2026, of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 27, 1939, at his family home in Steubenville, Ohio, Doyle was the son of the late Clayton and Mildred Cline. He grew up surrounded by a large family and was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph "Bumps" Cline, Robert "Bob" Cline, Richard "Dick" Cline, Victor "Vic" Cline, Edward "Ed" Cline, Charles Cline, and Dale Cline, and his sisters, Patricia "Patty" Kellermier, Paula "Polly" Wayt, and Saundra Cline.

Doyle was a proud union carpenter who dedicated many years of service before retiring from Carpenters Local 186 in 1995. His strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to providing for his family were evident throughout his life.

Following his retirement, Doyle devoted much of his time to his beloved cattle farm, where he found great satisfaction caring for the land and his livestock. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, trapping, digging roots, or searching for arrowheads. Whether in the woods, on the water, or walking a field, he appreciated God's creation and found peace in the outdoors.

Above all, Doyle loved his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His greatest legacy is the love, guidance, and example he leaves behind for those who knew him best.

Doyle's faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus and was always willing to share the hope and joy he found in his Savior. His steadfast faith, humble spirit, and genuine kindness touched countless lives and will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Margaret "Peggy" Cline; his children, Doyle E. Cline Jr. and wife Lori, Todd R. Cline and wife Delores, Kimberly J. Cline and special nephew Jamie Cline and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Nathan Cline, Jesse Cline, Holly Willoughby, Daniel Cline, Corbin Cline, Bryton Andres, and Elayna Cuddington; and nine cherished great-grandchildren.

Although his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Doyle is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was marked by hard work, unwavering faith, a love for the outdoors, and an enduring devotion to his family. His memory will forever be treasured, and his example will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 16 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where Doyle’s funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am. Rev. Sheldon Barnette will officiate and burial will follow in the Center Chapel Cemetery.
