Edith Virginia (Steffl) Hruschak, 95 of Piney Fork, OH, went home to be with the lord on Monday Oct. 15, 2012, at the Autumn Health Care of Adena.Edith was born to Henry and Annie (Huml) Friede on Sept. 30, 1917. She was adopted and raised by her Aunt Albina and Uncle Fred Steffl. Edith graduated from Smithfield High School in 1935; she then went to Oberlin Business College. Edith worked in the Hanna Coal Co. Mine office and in the Company store. She also worked for the American Lung Association. Edith lived in the same house in Piney Fork from the age of 2, until she was 84 and required nursing home care. She left behind many loving friends and caregivers at the Autumn Health Care of Adena. Edith was a member of the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church, the Missionary Society, the Piney Fork American Legion Auxiliary, Pine Valley Sportsman's Club and the Rebekah Lodge. She loved music, stories, cats, dogs, children, her family and helping those in need.In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Michael Edward Hruschak, in 2002; two sisters, Elsie (Paul) Wheatley and Mildred (Leo) Helal; brother Henry Friede and brother-in-law Walter Mozden. Edith is survived by her son, Edward James Hruschak (Ellen) of Piney Fork; her three daughters, Phyllis Mellor of Bethel Park, PA, Marilyn (Steve) Pasco of Rayland and Michelle Hruschak (Bob) of Adena; her sister Ida Mae Mozden; two sister-in-laws, Wanda Friede and Genevieve Hruschak; six grandchildren, Colleen and Jason Mellor, Renee (Dr. Randy) Mills, Austin Hruschak, Shane and Hannah Young; one great-granddaughter Rylee Mills. Visitation will be held on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2012 from 6-9 pm at the J .E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Piney Fork Legion Auxiliary services will be held 7pm Wed. Services will be held on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Barry Hall and Pastor Roger Wayne officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
