Edna Geraldine Johnson, 80, of Cherry Valley Rd. Cadiz, Ohio passed away Saturday July 5, 2008 in her home after a lengthy illness.Geraldine was born March 23, 1928 in McIntyre, daughter of the late Howard and Agnes Toney Smith. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. She was a very active member of the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre, where she was the church organist for many years and a member of the Missionary and Stewardship Boards.In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Johnson, a son Lewis Smith, a daughter Jennifer Rene Smith, and two sisters Mabel Smith and Mildred Burke. Surviving are her children, Cornell ( Valorie) Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Alice Dokes of Wintersville, Kathryn Smith of Rochester, N.Y., David Lamont 'Poncho' Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Calvin 'Skeets' Gregory of Cadiz, Maurice (Lori) Smith of Sistersville, W.Va., Gwendolyn McWilliams, loving caregiver of home. A host of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren including, Tessa Love, Kyle Smith, and Jeffrey Smith, all whom she raised. Two brothers, Clayton Smith of Baltimore, Md., and Wilford (Pearl) Smith of Steubenville. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 12th, at Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre from 11:00 am. til time of Geraldine's Services which are at 1:00 pm. Rev. Mary Ann Smith will officiate her Service and burial will follow in McIntyre Cemetery. J. E.
