Edward Marion Argentine, born July 16, 1919, age 91 died November 6, 2010 at his home. He was born the son of the late Louise Bonifine and August "Gus" Argentine. He was one of twelve children. Ed was in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937 to 1939. He joined the Army Ordinance in July 1941 and the Army Air Corps in July 1942 at Las Vegas Gunner School. He was a gunnery instructor at Morris Field South Carolina. He flew 52 missions over Africa and Sicily during World War II with the 47th Bomb Group. Ed worked for Weirton Steel for 35 years. Since his retirement in 1980 his hobbies included gardening and making soup for the neighbors. Ed was a founding member of St. Pius Church, Steubenville. He is now a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish. He was also a member of Council 3650 Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dominic, William, Joseph, George, Augustine and James and sisters Mary Magdeline, Jean Dayton and Angeline "Toots" Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Rose Marie Petrola and by his son Edward "Bucky" (Shelley) Argentine and daughter MaryAnn (Richard) Smith and his sisters Grace Paris and Mary Louise (Tony) Lamantia. He will also be missed by his grandsons Steven (Diamira) Smith, Dominic Argentine, and Ray Bowman and his granddaughters Robin Gaston, Kristin (Sean) McNicol, Donna (John) Turner, and Jillian (Ryan) Longo, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and neighbors. Visitation for Ed will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH where there will be a Vigil service held at 3:45pm. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30am up until the time of Ed's Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:30am at Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church (Holy Rosary) in Steubenville, OH with Fr. Thomas Nau as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, OH. Full Military graveside honors will be provided by the Tornoto American Legion Post #86.
