Edward J. Murphy Jr., 67, of Smithfield, OH (Plum Run) passed away Friday April 3, 2015 in the Cleveland Clinic.

Ed was born Aug. 23, 1947 in Oil City, PA, son of the late Edward J. and Ida Woods Murphy, Sr.

He was retired from the Jefferson Co. Hwy Dept., where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Jefferson Sportsmans Club.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his two sisters, infant sister Darlene and Judy Peterson.

Surviving is his wife, Sandra K. (Warrick) Murphy; two sons, Edward J. (Leah) Murphy III of Cincinnati, OH and Michael Murphy of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Emmy, Samantha and Michael; one great-grandson Wyatt; his brother, Jerry (Shirley) Murphy of New Athens, OH and his sister, Peggy (Robert) Deller of Steubenville, OH.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Eds life will be held on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. Rev. Craig Smith will officiate the service and inurnment will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
