Edward G. "Eddie" Reynolds, 87, of Toronto, OH passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the home of his daughter.Eddie was born August 31, 1921 in Toronto, OH son of the late Albert I. and Alice C. (Booth) Reynolds. Eddie was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army where he was a Mess Sgt. in the Persian Gulf Command. He was retired Bricklayer for over 60 years with Local # 14 and 10. He built houses, fireplaces, garages, porches, barns, chimneys, worked in many of the local mills relining brick furnaces and he cut bricks for many people in the Tri-State Area.Once retired Eddie owned and operated the Gem City Car Wash in Toronto for over 20 years. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Toronto, the American Legion Post #86 where he built the brick complex in 1974, a member of the Toronto Band Fathers for donating his time building all the block buildings on the property, he also donated his time to the Toronto Titans by building their concession stands. Eddie was a generous man and lived his life to the fullest with lots of hard work. He taught his children the value of work ethics and unconditional love by caretaking for his wife who suffered from COPD for many years. Eddie was well known and well liked and he was everybody's best friend.In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his wife Eileen who passed away in October of 2006, they were married on November 2, 1950; he was also preceded in death by his brother James Austin Reynolds and his sister Mildred Neagel.Eddie is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Chip) Hoobler of Irondale, son James "Jim" (Toni) Reynolds of Toronto and his daughter Cindy (Rusty) Starr of Toronto; his grandchildren Luke (Becky) Hoobler, Jessy (Crystal) Reynolds, Betsy Hoobler, Dustin (Jennifer) Reynolds, Adam (Morgan) Starr, Shelley Starr; his great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Jesse James, Christopher, Addie, Autumn, Faith and Blaine. Eddie is also survived by his sisters, Mary Louise Baker of Toronto, Vera Brobston of Cal., and Phyllis Marie Harris of Weirton.Visitation for Eddie will be held on Friday from 6-8pm and again on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-9pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Eddie's Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 15 at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Rinkes officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
