Edward A. Stovarsky, 86, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday April 24, 2012 in Serra Manor in Weirton, WV.Ed was born May 4, 1925 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Mike and Barbara Geryak Stovarsky.Ed was retired from the former Ohio Edison Mining Co. He was a member of St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Toronto, where he was a member of the choir. Ed was also a member of the Toronto American Legion, VFW and the Eagles. From 1943 to 1947 Eddie was a Professional Boxer, boxing under the name of "Eddie Starr."In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, John, John, George, Joseph, Mike and Nick Stovarsky and his sister Marie Adamski. Surviving are his children, son David (Mary Ann) Stovarsky of Toronto, OH, daughters Barbara Tolley of Canton, OH and Judy (Tim) Glenn of Riverside, CA; his sister Joanne D'Amico of FL. Ed also leaves behind six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and his special friend Jan Fulmer. Visitation for Ed will be on Thursday, April 26 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. A Solemn Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Joseph Byzantine Church on North 5th St. in Toronto with Fr. James Atkins as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. There will be a Parastas Service held on Thursday at 3:30pm at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made in Ed's memory to his church, St. Joseph Byzantine Church 814 North 5th St. Toronto, OH 43964.
