Elizabeth "Liz" Jean (Reinagle) Borkowski , 82, of Willoughby Hills, Ohio passed away on Sunday August 18, 2024 at her cherished home after a tough battle with cancer.
Liz was born and raised on her family's farm in Smithfield, Ohio. Born to parents William and Susan Reinagle. Family was always very important to her, as well as her Slovak and Hungarian heritage. In her early working career, she was a secretary at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. She graduated Cum Laude from Lake Erie College and went on to have an impactful career teaching for the Willoughby-Eastlake School district. She taught first grade at Washington Elementary where she touched the lives of many students.
Liz loved many things including puzzle books, watching western TV shows, reading, dancing, listening to music, shopping and decorating her home. She enjoyed cooking and hosting her family, especially for the holidays. Liz will be remembered as an amazing cook who never stopped teaching those around her and was the colorful matriarch to her family.
She leaves behind her beloved kitty Mia "Mau". She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Light (John), her beautiful grandchildren Brandis Light, Greggory Light (Fiancé Sara) and Ashley Light.
Also survived by her dear sisters June Bossell of Blaine, Ohio, Sylvia Stevens of Chester, West Virginia, Erma Kerns of Willowick, Ohio and her sister-in-law Jacqueline Reinagle of Smithfield, Ohio, as well as many loved friends and family members.
Preceded in death by her parents William and Susan Reinagle and her brother William "Bill" Reinagle, brother-in-law Larry Bossell, and brother-in-law Jim Stevens.
Liz will be laid to rest in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, Ohio at a private grave-side ceremony. Arrangements handled by J.E. Foster Funeral Home and Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home.
