Betty Swaykus 83 of Toronto, Ohio passed away Friday July 8, 2005 following complications from surgery in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. Betty was born in Toronto to the late John and Bertha Snedden Hannan on August 23, 1921. Betty along with her late husband Michael were co-owners of the former Mike's Market in Toronto for 22 years. She is a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto. Betty was married to Michael Swaykus Sr.on Sept.4,1943.He and her eldest daughterKathleen preceded Betty five years ago. Throughout her life, Betty's true pride and joy was her family. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Susan (Jon) Greiner of Oakdale, Pa., her son Michael Swaykus Jr. of Toronto and the two granddaughters whom she raised, Michelle (Dan) Means of Toronto, and Shanley (Chris) Fair of Millersburg, Ohio. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. Toronto, Ohio; where a blessing service will be held on Monday morning at 9:30 am. followed by Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:00 am. at St. Francis Church on Findley St. in Toronto. Msgr. Kurt Kemo will be the Celebrant and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Vigil services will be Sunday evening at 8:00 pm.
