Elizabeth A. "Liz" Truax, 87, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.

Liz was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Wells, NV, daughter of the late Norman and Sadie (Haye) Riedesel.

After high school, Liz obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in education and Master's degree in education and counseling. She worked as a teacher and counselor for Edison Local Schools, for 37 years, until her eventual retirement. Liz then went on to teach at EGCC and Franciscan University.

She was a member of the Hilltop Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano and organ for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Truax in 2014; sister, Jean Jeffrey and brother, Edward Riedesel.

Surviving are her children, Deborah (John) Costa, James P. (Sandy) Truax, Denise Truax and Randall S. Truax, all of Toronto, and Sheryl (Rick) Call of Hopedale, OH; sister, Charlotte (Doug) McMurry of Richmond, VA; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 23 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Liz's funeral service will follow at 6 PM with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Burial will take place in the Island Creek Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
