Ellen J. Petrozzi, 78, of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Thursday Dec. 10, 2009 at her home. Ellen was born April 30, 1931 in Dillonvale, daughter of the late Mahlon and Iola Waller Mellinger. She was a retired from St. John's Hospital, where she was a LPN for many years. She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale, a member of the former Smithfield Sr. Citizens and a graduate of Dillonvale High School. In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso J. 'Fonzie' Petrozzi who passed away on Feb. 25, 2006, her brother Charles "Bunker" Mellinger, who passed away on Nov. 13 of this year and two infant sisters Margie and Doris. Ellen is survived by her three sons, Robert (Mary Ellen) with whom she resided, William (Elaine) of Rayland, OH, Brian (Carrie) of New Alexandria, OH; her special caregiver and granddaughter Josie and Margaret McCain; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Friends and family may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 10:15 am. up til time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:00 am. at St. Adalbert Church in Dillonvale with Msgr. John Kolesar officiating.
