EmmaVirginia (Perry)Freeman,80of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Monday Feb. 6, 2006 in EastOhioRegionalHospital in Martins Ferry.She was born Nov. 20, 1925 in N. Charleroi, Pa., daughter of the late Charles Robert HenryPerry and Virginia Calloway Perry.She was a retired custodian working at the BuckeyeLocalNorth WestGrade School in Smithfield.She was a very active member the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the general board of the church, the church treasure for 40 years, the missionary board of the church, and the trustees.She was a charter member of the Oak Lake Park Inc., the Y.M.C.A., was a volunteer that would go around and sing at various nursing homes, and was a 25 year member and Alumni of the JeffersonCounty Extension Homemakers.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Orville Freeman in 1982, five brothers, and four sisters.Surviving are; her son Theodore "Ted" (Phyllis) Perry of Smithfield, her daughter; Emma Jean Freeman-Ponder(Daniel) of Washington, Pa., one sister; Josephine Blanche Brooks of Pittsburgh, Pa., and one brother; Robert Henry Perry of Washington, Pa.3 - grandchildren& 6- great-grandchildren.Friends and family may call on Thursday from4 - 8 pm. at the J. E. FOSTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 107 Hill St.Smithfield. Calling will also take place on Friday from 10:15 am. up til time of the service at 11:00 am. at the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre. Rev. Madonna Gray will officiate the service.
