Ethel L. Mayo, 84, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Steubenville, OH, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the Sage Park Assisted Living and Memory Care in Gahanna, OH.

Ethel was born on October 25, 1940, in Steubenville, daughter of the late Clifford and Elizabeth (Moore) Mayo. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Hilda Mayo Dorsey, Lillian Mayo Lucas and Claudia Mayo Holmes, and four brothers, Rev. Robert Mayo, James Mayo, Herbert Mayo and Micha Mayo.

She worked as a Training Manager for the State of Ohio Job and Family Services, until her eventual retirement.

Surviving is one sister, Dr. Patricia Mayo Fletcher of Steubenville, two brothers, Alfred Mayo of Detroit, MI, and Andrew Mayo of New Mexico; her loving niece, with whom she resided, Valerie Dorsey; her dear friend, Joyce Young of Columbus, OH, who helped care for her, and several nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 12:30 pm in the Mausolem Chapel at Union Cemetery in Steubenville. Arrangements for Ethel are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes.
