Parsons
July 5, 1931 – April 29, 2019
Eva Marie Parsons, 87, of Hammondsville, OH, passed away at 2:47 pm Monday, April 29, 2019 due to complications from Alzheimers disease. She had been a resident of the Calcutta Health Care Center since December, 2016.
She was born in Irondale, OH, on July 5, 1931, to the late Gale Robert and Winifred Mary James Cronin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deryl Emery Jake Parsons, whom she married on July 16, 1950.
She was a member of the Hammondsville United Methodist Church where she was a childrens Sunday school teacher and music director for many years. She graduated from Irondale High School in 1949.
Eva was employed as a clerk at various grocery stores in the Hammondsville area, including Logans General Store, Paisley Brothers, and Valley Market. She also wrote the Hammondsville news for the Wellsville Press.
She was a very active part of her childrens lives and very much enjoyed participating in the PTO, Booster Clubs, and attending her childrens school activities. Eva was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She was well known and loved in the community. She was an integral part of her grandchildrens lives and adored her great-grandchildren.
Eva will be sadly missed by her three children: Gale Emery (Debra) Parsons of Hammondsville, Jane Marie (Charles) Greenwood of East Liverpool, OH and Susan Lynette Parsons of Freedom, PA. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Robert Cronin and her nephew, R. Brad Cronin both of Parma, OH. She leaves two grandchildren: Shauna Rene Parsons of Toronto, OH and Joseph Matthew (Krista) Parsons of Hammondsville; four great-grandchildren, Jay Tyler Hanlin of Toronto, Matthew Joseph, Alivia Lynn and Amelia Marie Parsons all of Hammondsville. She also leaves a life long friend, who was like another daughter to her, Debbie Galeno Hageman of Boardman, OH.
Private family services were held at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Eva was laid to rest in the Hammondsville Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Calcutta Health Care Center employees for the excellent care and compassion given to Eva during her extended stay.
