Evelyn Louise "Sis" Dowdell, 85, of Adena, OH, passed away Sunday Dec. 15, 2024, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.

Sis was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Bradley, OH, daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Whittaker) Kropka.

She was a homemaker and had formerly worked at the Bobbie Brooks Garment Factory in Bellaire, OH. Sis was a member of the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Sis was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Walter, Jack and Larry Kropka.

Surviving is her husband, Raymond E. Dowdell, whom she married Oct. 2, 1964; daughter Jody (Todd) Mankamyer of Culmerville, PA; son Raymond R. "Rich" (Pamela) Dowdell of Brilliant, OH; two brothers, Roger Kropka of Martins Ferry, OH and Terry (Debbie) Kropka of Yorkville, OH; four grandchildren, Ashley and Shawn Mankamyer, Raymond Brandon Dowdell and Honorae Elizabeth Dowdell, and a great-grandson, Braxton Raymond Dowdell.

Visitation will be held Wednesday Dec. 18, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH, with additional visitation on Thursday from noon to 1 PM. Evelyn's service will follow at 1 PM with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating with burial in Holly Memorial Gardens.
