Evelyn J. Holmes, 81, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Sunday, December 30 in the Mt. Caramel-St. Ann's Palliative Care Unit in Columbus, OH.Evelyn was born June 24, 1926 in Toronto, daughter of the late James and Mildred (Heckathorne) Grindle. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and formerly employed by the Kroger Co. in Steubenville where she worked as a cashier.In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband John W., who passed in 1992; one sister, Ruth Ann Roche; four brothers, Jim, Tom, Robert and Harry Grindle.Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Holmes of Westerville, OH; one sister, Jean and her husband Wayne Henderson of Toronto; one brother, William Bill' Grindle of Toronto.Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Thursday, January 3, from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Friday, January 4 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. William Brown officiating.
