Florence Jean Carothers, better known as Jeanne, 72, of Rayland, OH, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her home under hospice care. 

 Jeanie was born February 4, 1953, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Robert "Snub" Ogden and Ellen Mae (Eltringham) Kovarik. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Richards. 

She spent a decade employed as a home health aide prior to beginning an eighteen-year tenure as a custodian with the US Postal Service in Yorkville. 

Jeanie was a member of the Dames of Malta, and she passionately followed Steubenville Big Red athletics, the Michigan Wolverines "Go Blue", and the Denver Broncos. 

Jeanie leaves behind her husband, Warren A. "Greaser" Carothers, whom she married December 28, 1983; two brothers, Robert Ogden of Rayland and Lew (Carissa) Kovarik of Weirton WV; two aunts, Glenna (Bob) Kinkus of Rush Run and Sherry Eltringham of Rayland; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Family and friends will be received Saturday, December 13 from 11 am to 2 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield where services will follow at 2 pm. Kenny Kourim will officiate and burial will follow in the New Alexandria Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
