Frances Ann (Vanihel) Lucas, 73, of Toronto, OH, passed away Dec. 7, 2022, in the Trinity West Medical Center ER in Steubenville, OH.

Frances was born June 21, 1949, in Steubenville, to Frank J., Jr. and Margaret C. (Stock) Vanihel.

She retired as a production line leader with LaBelle News in Steubenville. Frances enjoyed her bowling leagues at Toronto Lanes, gardening at her home, bingo, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Frances was a 1968 graduate of Toronto High School. Her life-time memberships included St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and Womens Club in Toronto, the Toronto American Legion Post 86 Ladies Aux., Toronto Order of the Eagles and the VFW Ladies Aux.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Michael Lucas; brother, Frank J. Vanihel, III; sister, Paula Ann Vanihel; brothers-in-law, Thomas Burkey, Robert A. Cline and Lester Tharp and nephew, Todd A. Cline.

Frances leaves behind her son, Joseph W. Burkey of NC; stepchildren, Mike (Cristina) Lucas & family of Empire, OH, Kris (Pam) Lucas & family of Wintersville, OH, Chad Lucas of Empire and Shay (Jaime) Lucas & family of Empire; sisters, Linda Kay Burkey of Toronto, Mary M. (Steve) Reynolds of Mansfield, OH, Janet M. (companion Jerry Wright) Tharp, Rosemary (Andy) Renforth, Tina M. (Kent) McGrath all of Toronto; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where her funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 10 am to 11 am. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
