Frederick D. Vandeborne, 80, of Smithfield, OH passed away Tuesday Jan. 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born March 5, 1937 in Fernwood, OH son of the late Frederick and Thelma (Frey) Vandeborne.

He was a construction worker retiring from Labor Local #809. Fred was the former owner of Fred & Son Grocery Store in Belvedere, OH and he was a former manager for Krogers.

Fred was a member of the Smithfield Friends Church and an active member of the Community Food Pantry, which operates through the church.

He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Vandeborne, sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Richard Grimes and sister-in-law, Garlane Vandeborne

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Lewis) Vandeborne, whom he married on March 9, 1957; his son, David P. (Mary) Vandeborne of Dillonvale, OH; three brothers, Donald F. (Dianna) Vandeborne of Wintersville, OH, Gary (Phyllis) Vandeborne of Port Richey, FL and Robert Vandeborne of Bloomingdale, OH; four grandchildren, Richard, Austin, Lexi and Justin Vandeborne; five step-grandchildren, Lauren, Lance, William, Chad and Jacoby and one great-grandson, Dylan; Fred also had several very loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 2 from 3-7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. In Smithfield. Freds funeral service will be held on Sat. at 10 am at the Smithfield Friends Church with Rev. Mark Carpino officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:15 am til time of his service. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH.
