Gary L. Hanlon, affectionately known by his friends as 'Hog Head', passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in the Bel Air Care Center in Alliance, OH.

Gary was born March 16, 1949, in Follansbee, WV, son of the late Emmett T. and Irene L. (Dennis) Hanlon. He was also preceded in death by brother, William "Bill" Hanlon, sister, Ellen Caniff, sister-in-law, Marion Hanlon, and brother-in-law, Bob Kaniecki.

He worked and later retired from the Millwright Pile Drivers Local 1090 in Canton, OH.

Gary was a 1968 graduate of Stanton High School. After high school he joined the US Army and served his country, stateside, during the Vietnam War. His memberships included the Toronto and Wellsville Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and VFW.

He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and following the Ohio State Buckeyes, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Gary leaves behind his daughter, Alicia Freeman of Crafton, PA, and son, Greg Hanlon & fiancé Hannah Sprowl of Alliance; siblings, Eveyln Raineri of Follansbee, Norman Hanlon of Hearne, TX, Dotti Kaniecki of Toronto, Jeanne & Tom Gilday of Toronto, and Pete & Tamara Hanlon of New Alexandria, OH; two grandchildren, Blaine Freeman and Corinne Freeman and one great-granddaughter, Ella Schreffler.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Post #86 at 7 PM.

Memorial donations may be made in Gary's memory to your local American Legion.
