Gerald Duane Dennis, 80, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 in the Trinity West Medical Center.Gerald was born on March 21, 1927 in Holidays Cove, WV, son of the late Arthur and Susie (Davis) Dennis.Gerald was a retired employee of National Steel Corp. where he worked in the Tin Mill.He was also a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War serving in both the US Army and Marine Corp.Gerald was a member of the Toronto American Legion Post #86, Toronto VFW #6906 and the Toronto Eagles.In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by one son, David E.; son-in-law Don Shipley; sister, Ruth Fetty; brothers, Delmar Dean and Arthur J.Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary (Mehilak) Dennis of home; one son, William D. (Bobbi) Dennis of FL; one daughter, Belinda (Emil) Mortimer of WI; a step-daughter Delores Shipley of Steubenville, OH; two sisters, Edith Shawver of Follansbee and Janice Griffin of Weirton, WV; two brothers, Robert Dennis of FL and Dale Dennis of Weirton, WV.Gerald is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.Visitation for Gerald will be held on Friday, Sept. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.Funeral services for Gerald will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Rinkes officiating.Burial will follow in Chapel HillMemorialGardens in Weirton, WV with full military honors to be provided at gravesite by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.www.jefosterfh.com
