Grant S. "Chookie" Starr Sr., 83, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville.

Grant was born Oct. 18, 1940, in Steubenville, son of the late Grant J. and Nellie (Albright) Starr.

He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Mingo Jct. where he worked as a Product Control Engineer. Grant was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, the Choir, and he cared for the church bells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Starr Snouffer who passed in 1995.

Grant leaves behind his wife, Deanne "Dian" (McCue) Starr; son, Grant S. Starr, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Jane (Dick) Dever of Wheeling, WV, and Sally (Barry) Wilson of Steubenville; one granddaughter, Mariel Snouffer of Brooksville, FL, and four nephews.

Visitation for Grant will be held on Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where his funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate, and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
