Harriett Ann (Davis) Shumard, 71, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday Feb. 17, 2016 in Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Harriett was born March 25, 1944 in Toronto, daughter of the late Claude and Jean Hommel Davis.

She was a homemaker, a member of Brays Chapel United Methodist Church in Costonia and a member of the Country Seniors.

In addition to her parents, Harriett was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol Sherwood, Claudia Chaney, Martha Parsons and one brother, John Davis.

Surviving is her husband, Robert J. Shumard, Jr.; five daughters, Dianna Nightingale of Chandler, AZ, Jann (Paul) Deku of Elsmere, KY, Joan (Mike) Royer of Waynesburg, OH, Darla Nightingale (Duane Thornton) of Wellsville, OH and Denise (Kevin) Sczruba of Wintersville, OH; two step-sons, James R. Shumard of West Homestead, PA and David R. Shumard of Duquesne, PA. Harriett also leaves behind her eleven grandchildren.

Visitation for Harriett will be held on Friday Feb. 19, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
