Obituary

Helen D. (Zelasko) Choma, 91, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014 in Trinity Medical Center ER in Steubenville, OH. Helen was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Stratton, OH, daughter of the late Nickolas and Anastisa Szegda Zelasko. She was formerly employed at Homer Laughlin China Co., she then retired from the Ohio Valley Hospital after twenty years of service as a Nurses Aid. Helen was a member of St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Toronto. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Choma in 1976; infant daughter Patricia Ann; her sisters Mary Kurty, Pearl Swick and Stella Molchan; her brothers John 'Smitty', Nickolas, Paul and Steve Zelasko.Surviving is her son David Choma of Richmond, OH, her daughter Debbie (Jeff) Holliday of Delaware, OH; her grandson Eddie Choma; two sister-in-laws, Martha Choma of Toronto and Genevieve 'Jenny' Zelasko of Amsterdam, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. in Toronto. Family and friends will gather Monday at the Funeral Home from 9-9:30 am for a time of remembrance. Panachida Services will be held at 9:45 at St. Joseph Byzantine Church. Requiem Divine Liturgy to follow at 10 am. Rev. Father John Kapitan, Jr. OFM Pastor will Celebrant Helen's Mass and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
