Henry Michael 'Hank' Barto, 100, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday Dec. 1, 2025, in the Trinity West ER in Steubenville, OH.

Henry was born April 28, 1925, in Mt. Sterling, PA, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fata) Barto, both immigrants from Italy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Barto on Nov. 11, 2012; brothers, Frank, Louie and Michael and sisters, Margaret, Ruth Ann, Lucia and Josephine.

During his senior year of high school, Henry was drafted into the US Navy and served his country during World War II most notably in Okinawa. He later worked as a Supervisor for Wohl Shoe Co, part of the Brown Group, in Pittsburgh, PA, where he remained until retiring.

Hank was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto, Toronto Sr. Citizens, Toronto American Legion Post #86 and the US Navy Memorial in Washington DC, where he was a plank owner. He loved to golf with his brothers, brother in law, nephews and his son Greg. Hank also loved traveling with his wife Betty and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving is his son, Greg (Barb) Barto of Toronto; his daughter, Beth Ann and fiancé Richard Makarski of Forest, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A private Funeral Liturgy with Mass is scheduled for Friday, December 5 at 12:00 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Masontown, PA. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Leckrone, PA. Military Honors will be rendered by AmVets Post #103 of Hopwood, PA.
