Irene E. Burns, 81, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Saturday, January 07, 2012 in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.Irene was born on May 27, 1930 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late James C. and Bessie M. (Anderson) Burns.Irene was a member of Richmond Methodist Church in Richmond, OH. She was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson Union High and a 1952 graduate of West Liberty College where she became a 5th grade teacher having taught at Jefferson Union and Retiring from Pleasant Hill Elementary. In addition to her parents Irene was preceded in death by her sister Nellie L. Zook who passed in 2011; her nephews Kenneth Riley and William Zook.Irene is survived by her sisters, Virginia Maxine Riley and Norma Burns both of Steubenville, OH; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and a great nephew and her beloved cat Lucky.Visitation for Irene will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 4-7pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where there will be additional visitation on Wednesday from 10am until the time of her funeral service at 11am. Pastor Carol Smith will officiate her service and burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH. Memorial donations may be made in Irene's memory to Richmond Methodist Church, PO Box 332 Richmond, OH 43944 or the charity of the donor's choice.
