Irene (Fidak) Shimmel, 81, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Thursday June 9, 2011 in Trinity Medical Center West. Irene was born Oct. 30, 1929 in Empire, Ohio; daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rodak Fidak. She was a home maker and formerly worked at the Homer Laughlin China Co. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. In addition to her parents Irene was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 1987, three sons, David, Thomas and Richard Shimmel and by four brothers, Joe, John, Michael and Alex Fidak. Surviving are her son John (Tina) Shimmel of Toronto, her grandson Tom Shimmel of Ada, Ohio. Three sisters, Helen Hood and Joyce Tye both of Toronto and Mary (Tom) Kowalski of Steubenville. Three brothers, Andy (Mary Ann) Fidak of Toronto, Bob (Millie) Fidak of Wintersville and Paul (Charlotte) Fidak of Fl.Two step-grandchildren Charles Leone and Christie Clifton and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Irene will be Sunday June 12th., 12 noon to 2:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. Toronto. On Monday there will be a prayer service at the Funeral Home at 9:30 am, followed by her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 :00 am. at St. Joseph Church on N. River Ave. Father Thomas Vennitti will be the Celebrant and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Vigil Service will be at 1:45 pm Sunday.
