Jack Edward Montgomery, 84, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2024.

Jack was born July 22, 1940, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Jack and Edith (Donahue) Montgomery.

After graduating from Toronto High School, Jack attended Ohio State University (OSU), earned a bachelor's degree from Franciscan University, and completed postgraduate work at West Virginia University and Arcadia (PA) University.

After retiring from teaching at Wintersville (OH) High School, he served as Assistant Dean from 2001-2024 at West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC).

Jack was a dedicated educator, and he devoted his professional life to nurturing the academic and personal development of countless students. He was an ardent WVNCC supporter and will be missed by the college community.

He overcame significant physical obstacles early in life and was a model of perseverance and determination. He was physically active throughout much of his life and enjoyed being a member of the gymnastics team at OSU, riding his bike, and hunting and fishing with his close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bud, Roy (Bill), and Robert.

Surviving are his three children, Derek (Demaris) Montgomery, Gretchen (Douglas) Shevelow, and Heidi (Patrick) Keenan; grandchildren Nolan, Emily, Nathan (Shelby), Neela, and Sara; and one great grandchild (Lily).

A memorial visitation will take place Saturday, August 24 from 2 PM to 4 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
