James M. Allen, Sr., 74, of Stratton, OH, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at his home.
Jim was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late William Bill and Ida (Kaczmarek) Allen.
He was retired from First Energy/Ohio Edison Sammis Plant where he worked as a Shift Supervisor. Jim was a member of the Toronto Rod & Gun Club. He loved to fish with his son and his friends and he was a master craftsman of fishing rods.
Jim was also a Veteran having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, James M. Jimmy Allen, Jr., his sister Sandy Allen and his brother Bob Allen.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann (Bodnar) Allen whom he married June 29, 1964; his four sisters, Alice Kay (Kenny Paul) Elson of Toronto, OH, Betty Cornelius of Newcomerstown, OH, Barb Schroyer of Toronto and Renee (Paul) DiEdwards of Weirton, WV. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews and the gang at Starrs Towing.
Honoring Jims wishes, he will be cremated and there will be a graveside service at Hammondsville Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date. Arrangements for Jim are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH.
Jims family would like to give a special thank you to his niece, Betsy (Tim) Miller, a special angel Linda Daniels and the Valley Hospice staff for all of their care and compassion. Memorial donations in memory of Jim may be directed to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital www.stjude.org. In Jims words "No child should suffer the pain of cancer."
