Obituary

James A. Cichon, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, OH, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the WVU Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.


Jim was born on Oct. 19, 1941, in Piney Fork, OH, son of the late Stephen and Angeline R. (Jancura) Cichon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dolly A. (Morris) Cichon, who passed on Oct. 27, 2022.


Jim worked for more than 40 years in the Shipping Department at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Plant in Mingo Junction before retiring. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pittsburgh Pirates.


Jim served his country, during the Vietnam War, in the US Army Reserves.


Surviving are his children, James Cichon (DeAnna Kinney) of Bridgeport, OH, Kimberly Cichon (Robert Horgan) of Canton, OH, and Brittaney (Brandon) McMahon of Venetia, PA; two grandchildren, Taryn Henwood and Joshua (Natasha) Mazeroski, and two great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Gage Yoho.


In accordance with Jim’s wishes, he was laid to rest privately at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH. Arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH.
