James A. "Jim" McGraw, Sr., went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on Thursday, March 3, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1920 in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Elizabeth Roberts McGraw. Jim was a Navy veteran having served his country in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a member of St. Francis Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a former Scout Master, a member of the Hibernian Club, charter member of Dyer Country Club, American Legion Post 86, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. James retired from the Weirton Steel Corporation, Blooming Mill Electric Department in December 1981. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Veronica McGraw in December, 2008, sister Elizabeth Jean McGraw, brother John (Brother Ignatius) McGraw1993, and granddaughter, Nicole Gobble, December 2008. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his eight children. Daughters, Barbara McGraw of Toronto, Ann McGrath (Jim) of Toronto, Patricia Russlee of Mansfield, OH, Rosemary Gobble of Columbia, TN and Melinda McGraw of Toronto. Sons, Michael McGraw of Florida, James Jr., (J.J.) of Toronto, and John (Patricia) of Brilliant, OH. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Patricia and Veronica McGraw, Beth (Troy) Carter, Amy (Joe) Campa, M.J. (Jackie) Chadick, Melissa Chadick, John and Patrick McGraw, Eric, Brian and Katie Russlee, Isaac Gobble, Coleena (Robbie) Rice, Christina McGraw, and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday March 7th, from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto where there will be a Vigil Service at 8:30pm. Tuesday morning there will be a prayer service at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by Jim's Funeral Liturgy with Mass at St. Francis Church at 10 am, with Father Thomas Vennitti as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the Toronto American Legion Post #86 Firing Squad.
