James R. Jim Rine, Sr. 77 of New Alexandria, OH, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Jim was born June 26, 1944, in Steubenville, son of the late James W. and Ruth (Phlugh) Rine.

Jim was retired from the Cardinal Plant in Brilliant, OH, where he worked in the Maintenance Dept. He loved fishing, hunting, stock car racing and he was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kerry Lynn and two sisters, Louise Pace and Brenda Taylor.

Surviving is his wife, Joyce D. (Matthews) Rine, whom he married March 30, 1963; daughter, Dana (Tim) Brown of Rayland, OH; son, James R. Bo Rine, Jr. and companion Marijean Benzel of Wintersville, OH; sister, Sharon (Dawson) Roe of New Alexandria; five grandchildren, Amanda and Tim Brown, Craig, Chelsea, and Josh Rine and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday Jan. 2, 2022, from 1 to 4 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. A private burial will be held Monday in the New Alexandria Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
