Rev. James E. Ross, 86, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 in the OSU Medical Center, Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus, OH.

Jim was born March 20, 1933 in Peora, WV son of the late Marion and Ruth (Lindsay) Ross.

He was a member of Meadowbrook Church of God, an Ordained Minister and a retired Salesman for Thompson & Son in Dillonvale, OH. Jim was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the National Guard.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cindy, son John, two sisters, Sharlene Ross and Yvonne Minor and two brothers, Paul and Joseph.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Phyllis M. (Stone) Ross whom he married July 3, 1954; his children, Cheryl (George) King of Cleburne, TX, Becky Yocom of Hopedale, OH, Patty Ross of Orange Park, FL, Ruth Ross of Powell, WY, James William Ross of Linden, VA and Donna (Tom) Birge of Warrenton, VA; two sisters, Darlene Wright of Mingo, Jct., OH and Suzy (Tom) Schoelwer of Stratton, OH; his brothers, Charles (Ruth) Ross of Toronto, OH, Richard Ross of Cadiz, OH, Roy (Glenna) Ross of Tampa, FL and Danny (Hope) Ross of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law, Deanna Ross of Piney Fork, OH, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday July 29, 2019 from 5 - 8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11 am at the Meadowbrook Church of God, Route 150 in Rayland, OH. Additional visitation will take place at the church from 10 11 am. Rev. Marvin Schooler will officiate and a private burial will follow in the Ross Family Cemetery.

Military Honors will be provided by the Piney Fork American Legion at the church.
