Obituary

James R. "Jimmy" Smith, 70, of Bridgeport, Ohio formerly of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Friday June 12, 2009 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North.He was born Nov. 9, 1938 in Wheeling, son of the late Verl and Mildred C. Cassels Smith. Jimmy was formerly employed by the IRS and the Treasury Dept. as a field Supervisor. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Washington, Pa., and enjoyed playing the piano and organ in any church he may be attending. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956- 1960. Surviving are his wife Joyce Tyler Smith and his step-daughter Marissa Tyler both of Blaine, one son James Rodger "Kimmy" Smith of Columbus, his brother Pastor Charles (Mildred) Smith of Cincinnati, many adopted sons and daughters and several grandchildren. Friends and family may call on Friday from 9:00 am. up til time of his service at 11:00 am., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Pastor James Agnew will conduct his service and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. Full military graveside honors will be conducted by the Smithfield American Legion Post # 396.
