James 'Jim' Truax, 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at his home. Jim was born January 30, 1936 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late William Mert and Wilma Bernadine (James) Truax.He was a member of the Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Toronto, where he served as elder and treasurer for many years. He belonged to the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F&AM 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite of Steubenville and Royal Arch Masons. Jim was retired from IBEW Local Union #246, where he was a former Treasurer. He served on the Edison Local School Board for 24 yrs. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Riedesel) Truax, whom he married May 31, 1958 of the home; his five children, Deborah (John) Costa, James (Sandy) Truax, Denise Truax, Randall Truax all of Toronto and Sheryl (Rick) Call of Steubenville; his sister, Pat (Larry) Coppa of Steubenville and his brother, Bill (Charlyene) Truax of Cold Springs, TX. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Costa, Mitch (Deana) Costa, Dan (Abby) Costa, Sam Costa, Jamie Truax, Mercedes Vahalik, Charlie (Ashley) Thompson, Nikki (Jeremy) Everhart, Blake (Lindsay) Truax, Randi Lynn (Ed) Franke, Jesse Truax, Elizabeth Call and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, May 18 from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am. Rev. Robert Meyer and Rev. Tim Zimmerman will officiate the service and his burial will be held at the convenience of his family in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
