Clara Jane "Janey" Starr, 69, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her home.

Janey was born in Steubenville, OH on Nov. 14, 1954, to the late Clarence and Claudia (Donofrio) Paules. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Dennis W. Chambers (2014), and her brother, Bill Paules.

Janey was a 1972 graduate of Toronto High School and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto. She was a former corrections officer at the Jefferson Co. Jail.

She leaves behind her husband, Dave Starr, whom she married Oct. 6, 2017; her children, Jodi (Bob) Shoemaker of Wintersville, OH, Jennifer Chambers (Brittney McIntosh), and Shane (Tiffanie) Chambers, both of Toronto; three sisters, Marlene (Bob) McDonald and Judy Anderson, both of Toronto, and Juanita Phelps of FL; special cousins, Agie (Tim) Rock of Toronto, and MaryJoy VanDyne of Steubenville, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Janey also leaves behind her five grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Mason, Jayden, Alexia, Jennalynn, and Blayke. They affectionately referred to her as "Mal-Mal". She also loved her two dogs, Bella and Chance, who both passed away earlier this year.

Visitation for Janey will be held on Friday, June 14 from 3 PM to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow on Saturday at 11 AM at St. Francis Church. Additional visitation will take place at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate, and burial will be held privately.
