Janis L. (Ralston) Westfall, 75, of Weirton, WV, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.

Janis was born Feb. 19, 1949, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Donald G. and Betty E. (Wright) Ralston.

Janis was a teacher, Intervention Specialist, having first taught for Toronto City Schools and later East Liverpool Schools, until her retirement. She spent 25 years in the classroom including high school, middle school, elementary special ed., and high school and college psychology.

She received her BS degree in Special Education and Social Psychology from the University of Steubenville and later finished her master's degree in counseling from Dayton University.

She was an active member of the Wintersville Church of Christ, past Treasurer of the Women's Fellowship, member and past president of the ADK-Ohio Beta Women's Educator Sorority, and the Jeff. Co. Retired Teachers Assoc., having served on the Board of Directors and as Secretary. Janis was also a Martha Holden Jennings scholar and she was a proud former member of the Toronto Band Parents.

In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Westfall, on Sept 6, 2023, and her son, Eric J. Westfall, on May 25, 2023.

Surviving is her granddaughter, Jenna L. Westfall, and grandson, Brandon J. Starner both of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, David (Patty) Ralston of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. She loved her grandchildren, and her family and all of her friends.

A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of her family. Her family would like to thank the amazing and wonderful Wyngate family for all of their care given to Janis over the years.
