Obituary

Jean Boggs, 87, formerly of Big Otter, WV, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 in the Laurels of Steubenville, OH. Jean had been making her home with her brother, Gail, in Toronto, OH. Jean was born September 8, 1922 in Wallback, WV, daughter of the late Hugh H. and Carrie A. Boggs. Jean was also preceded in death by her brother Hugh H. Boggs, Jr. Jean was a graduate of Clay Co. High School in Clay, WV; she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Glenville State College in Glenville, WV; from there she received her Master's Degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV; Jean also did more Post Graduate work at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.Jean was a lifetime educator retiring from Kanawha County Schools in Charleston, WV, where she taught first grade at Pt. Harmony Elementary School. Jean was member of the West Virginia Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and also the Clay County Historical Society. Jean's passions were her love for children and family and also genealogy. Jean is survived by her brothers, Gail (Dolores) Boggs of Toronto, OH, and Fred (Ruth) Boggs of Charleston, WV; her sister Janet Crisco of Charleston, WV; her nephew Hugh H. (Barbara) Boggs III of Great Falls, VA; niece Debra (John) Saunders of Leesburg, VA; nephew Ted (Beth) Crisco of Lansing, KA; niece Rebecca (Steve) Lanham of Charleston, WV; niece Kathryn Lynn (Michael) Sandridge of Missouri City, TX; niece Cheryl (Bill) Clapham of Toronto, OH. Jean is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.Visitation for Jean will be held in Toronto, OH, on Sunday, Sept. 5 from 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, 701 Findley St. Additional visitation will be held in Gassaway, WV on Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 10am up till the time of her service at 12 noon at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton St. Jean's funeral service will be officiated by Rev.
