Jeanette M. Savchak, 88, of Bradley(Smithfield) died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, following a brief illness. Jeanette was born June 5, 1920, in Bradley, daughter of the late Frank and Jenny (Bestel) Bartek. She was a member of the former Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she was an active member in the choir and the women's club. She was also a member of the AARP in Dillonvale and the Farm Bureau. Jeanette graduated from Smithfield High School and in her early years worked as a clerk at the Bradley Co-op store. She then worked along side her husband, Steve on their small farm, raising their own beef and tending to their large vegetable garden, while raising their two daughters. Jeanette was especially gifted with her cooking and baking skills with her specialty being her homemade nut rolls, city chicken and Strudel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, two brothers, Eugene and Frank, and one sister, Lillian. She is survived by her two daughters Beverly (Jerry) Crist of Canal Winchester and Janice (Greg) Blower of Athens. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Price, Heather Crist, Andrea McDaniel, Erica (Jeff) Arszman, two step-grandchildren, Thomas (Jenn) Blower and John Blower and special neighbors Tammy and Steve Kinyo. Jeanette will be missed by all of her family and special friends, Wanda Olszeski and Elsie Gron.Friends and family may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield, Ohio. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 am., at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:15 am. up til time of her mass. Msgr. John Kolesar will be the celebrant and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove.
