Jennifer L. “Jenny” Dickinson, 48, of Toronto, OH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
Jenny was born July 27, 1977, in Steubenville to the late Donald C. “Russ” Russlee and Judy Ann Yarosz. In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Penny Dickinson, and uncles, Ed Russlee, Ken Russlee, Stevie Yarosz and Carl Yarosz, Jr.
Jenny is survived by her husband, GR Dickinson, whom she married on Sept. 20, 2003; her three children, Nolan, Russ and Josey; her father-in-law, Glenn W. Dickinson; and her extended Yarosz, Russlee and Dickinson families.
She was a 1995 graduate of Toronto High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from West Liberty College.
Jenny’s teaching career began at Stanton Elementary and after a couple years she returned to Toronto City Schools where she has been an elementary teacher for over 20 years. During her teaching career she also completed her master’s degree in education.
Jenny was a very faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto.
Simply put, Jenny loved life. Her world revolved around her family and their activities, especially watching her children compete on the fields, courts, and track. A devoted Toronto Red Knights fan, she also spent a few years coaching junior high track. Jenny was equally passionate about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jenny loved country music, especially ’90s favorites and anything by Kenny Chesney. For years, she continued her tradition of attending Jamboree in the Hills, every third weekend in July, a tradition that began when she went with her mom as a younger girl.
Jenny enjoyed shopping trips, including Black Friday outings, with her mom and friends. She also treasured her “Girls Trips” with her loyal, lifelong friends she had known since grade school.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer 17 years ago, Jenny began “Jenny’s Journey.” With the support of her family and loyal friends, she raised significant funds for the Teramana Cancer Center TEAR Fund to help other cancer patients with their expenses.
Jenny loved being near the water. From her front porch on South River Avenue, she enjoyed beautiful views of the Ohio River. Each summer, she looked forward to family beach vacations and the chance to put her toes in the sand. When her children were younger, the family spent many summers at Austin Lake Campground.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 5 from 1 pm to 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Additional visitation will take place on Monday from 11 am to 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto. Jenny’s service will follow at 12 noon, led by Rev. Jane Schockey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to: The Teramana Cancer Center TEAR Fund or the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto. www.jefosterfh.com
