Joann Conner, 83, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.

Joann was born Dec. 18, 1936 in Dola, WV, daughter of the late Donovan Daryl Bates and Margaret Molly (Barker) Bates.

She retired from the Jefferson County Cable Co. where she was the office manager. Joann formerly worked for M&M Bank and the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Credit Union. She also worked for many years as an EMT for TEMS, Inc. in Toronto. Joann was a member of the Hilltop Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Benny and David Bates and her stepson, Danny Conner.

Joann leaves behind her husband, Paul Conner whom she married in 1991; her son, Brian (Jolene) Sayers of Toronto; her brother, Marvin L. Bates of Toronto; two grandchildren, Misty (Paul) Newman of Toronto and Jason (Diamond) Sayers of Steubenville, OH; two great-grandchildren, Ive Sayers and Piper Newman; three step-children, Edward Conner and Connie Conner both of Weirton, WV and Paula (Dwight) Churchill of NC; step-granddaughter, Paulette (Nick) Applegarth of Toronto and four step-greatgrandchildren, Kaylee Newman, Dayna and Shanna Reed and Gage Applegarth.

Visitation for Joann will be held Sunday, January 12 from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Her funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Rinkes officiating. Burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
